This innovation is not Waymo’s first experience with Gemini; the company has previously utilized its sophisticated “world knowledge” to assist its autonomous vehicles in navigating complex driving scenarios. Wong emphasizes that the assistant is programmed to present itself as a “friendly and helpful AI companion,” fully committed to enhancing the rider’s journey by providing timely information while ensuring a safe environment.
