Oura Introduces Revamped App with New 'Cumulative Stress' Feature

Oura Unveils Redesigned App Featuring Innovative ‘Cumulative Stress’ Tool

In a significant update, Oura has launched a revamped app that includes an innovative "Cumulative Stress" feature aimed at helping users better manage their well-being. This announcement comes shortly after Oura’s impressive $900 million funding boost led by Fidelity Management & Research Company.

Enhanced User Experience

The newly redesigned Oura app offers three customizable tabs to enhance user experience:

  • The Today tab delivers personalized insights to assist with daily decision-making.
  • The Vitals tab provides a snapshot of critical metrics such as sleep quality, stress levels, and cardiovascular trends.
  • The My Health tab offers long-term insights into user wellness, featuring sections for “Habits” and “Routines” to illustrate the impact of daily behaviors.

Additional improvements include expanded menstrual cycle tracking, now offering a comprehensive 12-month view for period and fertile window predictions.

Understanding Chronic Stress

The newly introduced Cumulative Stress feature consolidates data from the past month to provide users with a deeper understanding of their stress levels, updated weekly. This metric evaluates five key factors: sleep continuity, heart stress-response, sleep micro-motions, temperature regulation, and activity impact.

Oura will roll out this feature globally in the coming weeks.

Pursuing FDA Clearance for Blood Pressure Monitoring

In addition to the app’s enhancements, Oura is actively seeking FDA approval for a blood pressure monitoring feature. The company has initiated a Blood Pressure Profile study to investigate early hypertension indicators through passive tracking of user data.

This study will be conducted in partnership with Oura Labs in the U.S., with approval from the Institutional Review Board. Participants will complete a brief questionnaire that assesses family health history, medications, and lifestyle habits alongside their Oura Ring data, receiving a likelihood assessment of hypertension. Those indicating significant risks will be encouraged to consult healthcare professionals.
