New Relic Unveils AI Agent Platform and OpenTelemetry Tools to Enhance Data Observability
In a strategic move to promote enterprise adoption of artificial intelligence, New Relic has introduced its latest innovation: a no-code AI agent platform designed for data observability. Unveiled on Tuesday, the New Relic Agentic Platform enables businesses to create and manage AI agents that proactively monitor data, identifying bugs and potential issues before they affect their products.
The platform offers enterprises access to ready-made agents, allowing for streamlined operations and oversight of existing bots. It is designed to facilitate integration with various external data sources through the model context protocol (MCP), enhancing its functionality alongside other New Relic tools.
“We’re not building this as general purpose,” said Emerson, emphasizing the platform’s focus on specific outcomes within observability. “It’s an ecosystem that allows us to collaborate with existing tools while addressing the unique challenges our personas face in the observability domain.”
The rise of software solutions enabling AI agent management has accelerated as businesses seek to alleviate concerns surrounding data access and security. Notably, Salesforce launched its Agentforce platform in late 2024, followed by OpenAI’s introduction of OpenAI Frontier earlier this year. According to research firm Gartner, these agent platforms are becoming essential infrastructure for facilitating AI adoption in enterprises.
In alignment with its goal of enhancing enterprise technology adoption, New Relic also announced new tools targeting OpenTelemetry (OTel), an open-source observability framework. The company’s application performance monitoring (APM) agents will now incorporate OTel capabilities, allowing organizations to manage OTel data streams alongside their existing data sources in a unified interface. This innovation addresses previous fragmentation issues that have hindered widespread OTel adoption.
“Just send your OTel data to us,” stated Nic Benders, chief technology strategist at New Relic. “We’ve found that handling OTel data collectors can be burdensome for many teams. Therefore, efficient OTel fleet management is crucial.”
Key Highlights:
– New Relic launches a no-code AI agent platform for data observability.
– The platform facilitates integration with external data sources through MCP.
– New tools support OpenTelemetry, addressing industry fragmentation.
– Focused on simplifying AI agent management for enterprises to boost adoption.
