All-Electric Jeep Recon Unveiled with Specs and Starting Price

Jeep has announced the much-anticipated all-electric 2026 Jeep Recon, set to commence production in early 2024. This marks a significant advancement for the brand, following a series of delays since its initial unveiling three years ago. Constructed on a dedicated electric vehicle (EV) platform, the Recon is designed to deliver impressive performance with 650 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque. It features a robust 100 kWh battery, offering an estimated range of 250 miles on a single charge, and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds.

The Jeep Recon proudly claims the title of the first and only fully electric Trail Rated SUV, signifying its adherence to Jeep’s stringent standards for traction, water fording, maneuverability, articulation, and ground clearance. Enhanced by its 4X4 capabilities and equipped with 33-inch tires, the Recon is engineered to conquer diverse terrains.

Notably, the Jeep Recon was originally slated for release in 2024, with early sightings limited to prototype images. However, recent statements from Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf confirmed that the Recon will be available in showrooms by next spring. The company’s website still indicates a potential late 2025 launch, which suggests that updates may be pending.

Jeep has previously introduced several hybrid models, including versions of the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler. However, these have faced significant challenges this year, as over 375,000 vehicles have been recalled due to battery fire risks, following a smaller recall of 194,000 Jeep hybrids for similar issues the previous year.

The 2026 Jeep Recon carries a starting price of $65,000, with production set to take place at the Toluca Assembly Plant in Mexico.
