Google Maps has rolled out innovative AI-driven features designed to empower developers and users in crafting interactive projects using map data. Central to this initiative is the integration of Gemini models, which underpin multiple enhancements across the platform.
One notable addition is the new builder agent, which allows users to simply describe their desired interactive map project using natural language. For example, commands like “create a Street View tour of my city” or “generate a map showing real-time weather in my area” prompt the tool to create a corresponding prototype. After generating the code, users can test their projects or modify them in Firebase Studio using their own API keys.

On the consumer side, Google is committed to enriching the Maps experience with additional Gemini-powered features. Recently, the platform added hands-free navigation options and introduced incident alerts and speed limit data to users in select areas of India.
