ClickUp Launches AI Assistant to Rival Slack and Notion
ClickUp has unveiled significant updates to its productivity platform with the introduction of AI assistant features, positioning itself as a comprehensive solution for users. This enhancement is largely attributed to ClickUp’s acquisition of Qatalog, an enterprise search company that secured over $29.5 million from notable investors, including Salesforce Ventures and Atomico.
With the release of ClickUp 4.0, users can now benefit from two distinct AI agents. The first agent is integrated across all communication channels, proactively addressing user inquiries by sourcing information from both the company’s internal database and external platforms such as Google Drive, OneDrive, Figma, and Gmail.
The second assistant, known as Brain, serves a more versatile role, facilitating idea generation, scheduling meetings based on team availability, and managing tasks directly from the interface. Brain is capable of accessing web resources, analyzing reports, and drafting content, living in the sidebar for easy access throughout the ClickUp experience.
This latest version aims to streamline the user experience by enabling seamless transitions between tasks, documents, and communications. ClickUp 4.0 features an intuitive sidebar that allows users to navigate their internal company forums, various communication channels, and task lists effortlessly.
In its effort to enhance competitiveness against platforms like Notion, Slack, and Microsoft Teams, ClickUp has made strides in achieving feature parity. The platform previously introduced AI-driven summaries and live video/audio calls, known as Syncups. In this update, a Syncup button is included in every channel, enabling the AI notetaker to record, transcribe, and distribute notes from these meetings.
Furthermore, the company’s calendar tool is now designed to adjust meeting schedules automatically when tasks are marked as high priority. ClickUp also presents a team dashboard akin to social media formats, allowing leaders to track updates across various channels, monitor team analytics, and check for upcoming time-off requests.
According to CEO Zeb Evans, ClickUp has experienced rapid growth, surpassing $300 million in annual recurring revenue, and is eyeing a potential public offering within the next two years. The company has raised over $537 million in funding to date from prominent investors including a16z, Tiger Global, and Craft Ventures, as reported by Crunchbase.
