Luxembourg-based SUSE has expanded its portfolio with the launch of SUSE Cloud Observability, a fully managed observability platform tailored for Rancher-managed multi-cloud Kubernetes clusters. This marks a significant shift for SUSE as it steps into the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) arena, fulfilling a critical gap in its offerings.
Enhancing Cloud Infrastructure Monitoring
SUSE’s CEO, Dirk-Peter van Leeuwen, highlighted the platform’s importance, particularly for enterprise customers, including those from the U.S. government. The need for a more integrated observability solution comes as organizations face increasingly complex vendor stacks. “In an open-source environment, customers prefer flexibility and tailored solutions,” Van Leeuwen remarked, emphasizing Rancher’s compatibility with diverse operational needs.
Features of SUSE Cloud Observability
Based on SUSE’s acquisition of StackState earlier this year, SUSE Cloud Observability allows businesses to efficiently monitor workloads across major cloud providers like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. The service includes:
- Pre-configured Policies: Streamlines initial setup for users.
- Dashboards: Provides clear visibility into system performance.
“This solution addresses our previously identified need for full-stack observability, which was crucial for enhancing our Kubernetes capabilities,” van Leeuwen stated.
A New Phase for SUSE
With the introduction of its first SaaS product, SUSE aims to align more closely with customer preferences for software delivery. Van Leeuwen noted that this shift could open doors for additional SaaS offerings in the future.
Complementary AI Solutions
In conjunction with SUSE Cloud Observability, SUSE has also made its generative AI platform generally available. Originally introduced in June, the AI services focus on empowering enterprises with a vendor-agnostic solution. “Our goal is to provide a robust infrastructure that supports AI implementation securely and efficiently, without dictating which language model to use,” van Leeuwen concluded.
Through these developments, SUSE is positioning itself as a pivotal player in the cloud infrastructure landscape, catering to the evolving needs of its clients across various sectors.
