Solana Co-Founder Highlights Benefits of Agentic Coding in Software Development

In a recent discussion, Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of the Solana cryptocurrency protocol, emphasized the transformative impact of agentic coding, particularly in conjunction with artificial intelligence. “AI serves as a powerful force multiplier for experts in the field,” Yakovenko stated, sharing his insights garnered from over 15 years in software development. He remarked on his ability to monitor AI performance during meetings, noting, “If I appear disengaged, it’s because I’m closely observing how Claude is operating.”

Solana has experienced a remarkable surge this year, differentiating itself amid a broader market downturn. Earlier this month, the platform reported an impressive $2.85 billion in annual revenue, largely attributed to activity on crypto trading platforms. Additionally, the launch of Solana’s first exchange-traded fund (ETF) the day prior to Yakovenko’s appearance marked a significant milestone. Managed by Bitwise, the fund attracted nearly $70 million in inflows within its first day.

Yakovenko attributed Solana’s thriving success to an increasing adoption of cryptocurrency, particularly from traditional financial sectors. “Individuals working in back-office finance quickly grasp the fundamentals of crypto,” he noted, citing the frequent exposure to settlement and banking risks in their roles.

However, the cryptocurrency realm is facing intensified scrutiny, particularly surrounding allegations of public bribery linked to Trumpcoin, a token operating on the Solana network. Critics argue that the estimated $350 million directed to the former president underscores unethical practices, especially following notable pardons involving high-profile figures associated with the cryptocurrency space, such as Justin Sun and Changpeng Zhao.

Despite the controversies, Yakovenko affirmed that the open nature of the Solana protocol limits his control over the tokens it supports. “I could easily share a link to Trumpcoin or any other protocol,” he explained, highlighting the decentralized features that define the crypto landscape.
