Oklahoma City Enhances Traffic Efficiency with 24% Reduction in Delays Thanks to AI Solutions
Oklahoma City has achieved an impressive 24% decrease in traffic delays at major intersections through the implementation of NoTraffic’s AI-powered traffic management platform. This significant improvement is part of the city’s initiative to optimize traffic flow along the renowned U.S. Route 66, enhancing safety and paving the way for smarter urban mobility solutions.
The announcement, made on December 17, 2025, highlighted the partnership between NoTraffic and Paradigm Traffic Systems, which facilitates the deployment of intelligent transportation systems across the region. The AI platform provides real-time traffic optimization, resulting in additional benefits, including a notable 41% reduction in delays within key areas and a substantial decrease of 14,000 metric tons in CO₂ emissions. Economically, these advancements are projected to yield $35.4 million in benefits over five years, reflecting a staggering return on investment of 280 to 1.
As one of the largest cities in the United States, Oklahoma City is dedicated to modernizing its traffic infrastructure. The recently approved $2.7 billion bond program includes an allocation of $81 million specifically for traffic system enhancements. This funding will allow the upgrade of 25 intersections aimed at reducing congestion and improving overall safety, ultimately aligning with NoTraffic’s mission to minimize traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries.
Stuart Chai, the city’s Traffic Engineer, emphasized the commitment to utilizing technology for enhancing public safety and operational efficiency. “Investing in signal and intersection improvements boosts our capability to monitor traffic conditions in real time, ensuring smoother commutes and less travel time for everyone,” he stated.
