Google Introduces Affordable AI Plus Plan in India to Rival ChatGPT Go

Google Teams Up with Reliance to Provide Free AI Pro Access for Jio Users

Google has officially unveiled its budget-friendly AI Plus plan in India, designed to provide competitive pricing against existing low-cost AI services like OpenAI’s ChatGPT Go. The new subscription, which targets new users in India, is available for a promotional price of ₹199 ($2.21) per month for the initial six months. After this introductory period, the cost will rise to ₹399 ($4.44) per month.

With the AI Plus plan, subscribers will benefit from enhanced features including increased limits for Gemini 3 Pro and the Nano Banana Pro image editing model. Users will also gain access to video generation in the Gemini and Flow apps, an upgraded deep research capability through NotebookLM, and 200GB of storage across Google Photos, Drive, and Gmail. Additionally, families can share the subscription with several members.

Previously, Google’s most affordable AI offering in India was the AI Pro plan, priced significantly higher at ₹1,950 per month ($21.69). Despite its late entry into the Indian market, where it launched this plan after initially introducing it in Indonesia, Google is ramping up its efforts to attract users amidst fierce competition.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT Go subscription, launched in India in August, offers users a cost-effective solution at under $5, providing ten times the limits of the free plan for messaging, image generation, and file uploads. The growing interest in AI services in India has led various companies to offer enticing promotions, such as Perplexity’s partnership with Airtel to provide its Pro plan free for a year to customers, and OpenAI’s initiative to offer ChatGPT Go complimentary for a year to both new and existing users.

In a strategic move, Google has also collaborated with Reliance Jio, offering its AI Pro plan free for 18 months to users on select carrier plans, aiming to capture a larger share of India’s vast user base.
