Empromptu Secures $2 Million in Pre-Seed Funding to Transform AI Application Development for Businesses
Sheena Leven, drawing from her experience as the founder of CodeSee, has revealed key insights on developing technology solutions. Leven emphasizes the ongoing importance of understanding business needs versus flashy innovation and highlights that core principles—such as security, compliance, and reliability—remain critical even in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
Following CodeSee’s acquisition in 2024, Leven co-founded Empromptu with AI researcher Sean Robinson. Launched in October, the platform is designed to empower business owners, including those with limited technical backgrounds, to effortlessly create AI applications. Users interact with Empromptu’s AI chatbot to specify their requirements, such as developing a new HTML or JavaScript app. The tool then executes the build and offers large language model (LLM) features for further customization, enabling businesses to enhance their existing codebases with AI functionalities.
While Empromptu competes with platforms like Replit and Lovable, Leven defines it as more than just a “vibe-coding” tool. “Vibe coding is great for quick experiments, while Empromptu transforms these ideas into fully functional software,” she stated. The platform integrates evaluation, governance, and self-improvement mechanisms, ensuring that businesses can deliver production-ready applications backed by real customer data.
On Tuesday, Empromptu announced it has successfully raised $2 million in pre-seed funding, led by Precursor Ventures, with participation from Zeal Capital, Alumni Ventures, Founders Edge, and South Loop. The newly acquired capital will primarily focus on hiring talent and developing proprietary technologies.
Empromptu aims to cater to businesses in regulated industries or those requiring complex data management, such as software solutions for hotels. Leven expresses her vision of democratizing access to AI tools, allowing founders to enhance their businesses without needing extensive technical expertise.
“Like any skill, learning to leverage AI is achievable, and it’s exciting that AI can assist in that journey,” Leven concluded.
