Innovative AI Solutions Tackling Hair Loss: MyHair AI Launches to Redefine Diagnosis and Treatment
Cyriac Lefort, the founder of the groundbreaking startup MyHair AI, was inspired to create a solution for hair loss two years ago during a routine haircut in New York City. At just 32 years old, he was taken aback when his hairdresser pointed out signs of potential balding. Although Lefort personally disagrees with the assessment, the encounter prompted him to buy hair loss products and delve into the often-misleading world of hair care.
Recognizing the emotional weight that hair loss carries for many, Lefort immersed himself in the hair loss industry, only to find it riddled with misinformation and unreliable clinics. His own visit to a medical expert later assured him that he was not, in fact, losing hair. This motivated him to harness artificial intelligence to empower others to make informed choices about their hair health.
Teaming up with fellow entrepreneur Tilen Babnik, Lefort created MyHair AI, an app designed to help users accurately diagnose hair loss through AI technology. Users upload photographs of their scalps, which the app analyzes to track hair density and identify early indicators of hair loss. As individuals continue to upload images, the AI monitors changes over time, allowing for personalized hair loss prevention plans. Additionally, users can find verified specialists and clinics, mitigating the risk of scams.
“Our AI provides accurate insights into your hair health, suggests appropriate products based on your hair type, and clarifies the science behind them, including potential side effects,” Lefort explained. “By injecting transparency into this $50 billion industry, we aim to transform how individuals approach hair care.”
After a year of conceptual development, several months of validation, and prototype creation via vibe coding, MyHair AI launched this summer. The startup has already gained over 1,000 subscribers and amassed 200,000 user accounts, with its app having analyzed more than 300,000 scalp images. Recently, prominent dermatologist Dr. Tess joined MyHair AI’s board, bolstering its credibility.
Distinguishing itself from competitors like Hims, MyHair AI is unique due to its dedicated AI model, developed using a vast database of over 300,000 hair images specifically to diagnose hair loss instead of relying on more general algorithms.
Looking ahead, Lefort aims to expand the platform’s capabilities, including the development of a booking system and partnerships with additional clinics, all while ensuring that the AI solutions work effectively in real-world scenarios. “Men typically worry about two primary health concerns: sexual dysfunction and hair loss. We aim to address one of the most prevalent everyday worries,” he stated.
