Depthfirst Secures $40 Million in Series A Funding to Enhance AI-Powered Cybersecurity

Depthfirst, an innovative cybersecurity startup focused on AI-driven defense mechanisms, has successfully secured $40 million in a Series A funding round, announced on Wednesday. This significant investment, spearheaded by Accel Partners and supported by SV Angel, Mantis VC, and Alt Capital, comes at a time when the threat landscape is increasingly dominated by cybercriminals utilizing artificial intelligence in their attacks.

Founded in October 2024, Depthfirst is committed to developing tools that bolster cybersecurity measures. Its flagship platform, General Security Intelligence, leverages AI to assist organizations in scanning and analyzing their codebases and workflows for potential vulnerabilities. The platform not only helps identify credential exposures but also monitors threats to open-source and third-party components.

With the new funding, Depthfirst aims to expand its team to bolster applied research, engineering, and sales capabilities. Co-founder and CEO Qasim Mithani emphasized the urgent need for more robust security solutions, stating, “We’ve entered an era where software is written faster than it can be secured.” Drawing on his experience at Databricks and Amazon, Mithani noted the necessity for defense strategies to evolve in response to how adversaries exploit automation in their attacks.

The leadership at Depthfirst combines expertise in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Notably, co-founder Daniele Perito previously held the role of director of security and risk engineering at Square, while CTO Andrea Michi has a background as an engineer at Google DeepMind.

Depthfirst aims to shield companies from the growing number of AI-driven cyber threats, having already established partnerships with notable firms such as AngelList, Lovable, and Moveworks. As AI continues to reshape the cybersecurity landscape, the startup is poised to play a pivotal role in defending against ever-evolving threats.
