Adobe Firefly Expands Features with Prompt-Based Video Editing Support

Adobe Enhances Firefly with Innovative Prompt-Based Video Editing Capabilities

Adobe has significantly upgraded its AI-driven video creation tool, Firefly, introducing a cutting-edge video editor equipped with prompt-based editing features. This enhancement comes alongside the integration of new third-party models, including Black Forest Labs’ FLUX.2 and Topaz Astra, expanding the app’s functionality for both video creation and editing.

Until now, users of Firefly faced limitations as the tool only allowed for full video regeneration when edits were needed. The newly implemented video editor enables users to make targeted edits using text prompts for various elements such as video content, color schemes, and camera perspectives. Additionally, a revamped timeline view simplifies the adjustment of frames, audio, and other key characteristics.

Initially unveiled in a private beta last October, the video editing feature is now available to all Firefly users. Leveraging Runway’s Aleph model, users can execute specific modifications—such as altering the sky’s appearance or adjusting contrast—and even recreate camera movements by uploading reference frames.

Another exciting advancement includes the ability to upscale videos to 1080p or 4K using Topaz Labs’ Astra model. The introduction of Black Forest Labs’ FLUX.2 model focuses on image generation, complemented by a new collaborative boards feature for enhanced teamwork.

FLUX.2 will be immediately accessible across all platforms within Firefly, while Adobe Express users will gain access starting in January. With increasing competition in the video and image generation space, Adobe aims to engage users more thoroughly with these latest updates. Notably, subscribers to Firefly Pro, Firefly Premium, and other premium plans will enjoy unlimited generations using all image models and the Firefly Video Model until January 15.
