Announced on Thursday, this strategic agreement introduces the potential delivery of up to 10,000 Neo robots to over 300 portfolio companies under EQT, a prominent Swedish multi-asset investment firm. The deployment is set to span from 2026 to 2030, targeting sectors such as manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics.

While 1X has primarily marketed the Neo as “the first consumer-ready humanoid robot designed to transform life at home,” this agreement marks a distinct shift towards industrial applications. Unlike other companies in the space, such as Figure, which focus largely on commercial solutions, 1X’s current deal does not involve its industrial-focused robot, Eve Industrial, highlighting a unique strategic direction for the Neo.

The shift to provide humanoids for industrial use stems from the challenges in marketing home robots. With a price tag of $20,000, the Neo may face limitations appealing to individual consumers, especially considering privacy concerns surrounding real-time monitoring. Although 1X has not disclosed specific pre-order figures for the Neo, the company mentioned that interest in the robot has “far exceeded” initial expectations.
