Dia Launches on Mac, Now Accessible Without an Invitation

The Browser Company’s innovative AI-driven browser, Dia, is now officially available for all macOS users without an invitation. Initially launched in a private beta phase in June, following its unveiling late last year, Dia can now be downloaded by Mac users who meet the requirements of having an M1 chip or later and running macOS 14 or newer.

Key Features of Dia

  • AI Integration: At the core of Dia’s functionality is its AI, designed to facilitate seamless user interaction across all open tabs.
  • Intelligent Chatbot: Users can interact with a built-in chatbot that answers queries, compares websites, and performs content-specific searches directly within the browser.
  • In-line Editing: Dia offers a unique in-line copy editor, summarizing text without the need for users to copy and paste into separate fields.
  • Smart Shopping Assistant: The AI also provides recommendations, including advice against impulse purchases when prompted.

Background on the Browser Company

Previously known for the Arc browser, The Browser Company refocused its efforts on Dia in May. CEO Josh Miller cited a lack of cohesion in Arc’s features, emphasizing that Dia represents a more coherent and user-friendly approach to web browsing. Despite the transition, the company remains committed to supporting existing Arc users with future security updates.

In a recent development, The Browser Company was acquired by Atlassian in a deal valued at approximately $610 million, expected to conclude by late 2025. This acquisition allows the company to continue functioning independently, with plans to accelerate the rollout of Dia. As of now, there are no announcements regarding a Windows version; however, considering Arc’s eventual availability on Windows, it is likely that Dia will follow suit in due course.
